Dear Friend of MLM
As I prepared to write this first letter to our friends in 2021 I thought I would read what I wrote one year ago. We began 2020 with every anticipation that we would preach in a number of nations in four regions. As you know that did not happen because we all experienced Covid!
As we enter 2021 there is much unknown. The pandemic of 2020 has not yet relented although vaccines are becoming available in the States and probably available in the back half of 2021 in New Zealand. Reports are now occurring around the world indicating that variants of covid-19 are infecting people and fear is rising again. Political turmoil exists in the USA.
As I write this emotions are all over the place in the States. Even more significant the church appears to be all over the place. No one is absolutely certain of the future. Unrest…uncertainty…anxiety…fear are huge. Can I trust future elections? Can I trust governmental officials? Can I trust prophets? Can I trust the Lord? One way or the other these and similar issues will need to be addressed. Pastors, who have just come out of one of the most challenging years of their ministries, may face even greater challenges in 2021.
Yet others see great promises for this year. A friend in ministry private messaged me this morning. Since we last preached for them a large number of their people are no longer in the church. That has been set off by a large number of new people coming in. They are seeing some dramatic conversions.
For many it is the best of times and it is the worst of times.
As I write this we have our tickets purchased to return to New Zealand in March. It appears we may be required to take a Covid test before boarding a flight to New Zealand and we will still be required to quarantine upon arrival. Some discussion is now happening about closing the borders of New Zealand to people coming from or through certain nations. We could be affected by that.
So what are we going to do?
We are going to keep on loving Jesus, His people, and sinners. We will minister to the Lord in private and to people in public. We hope to travel internationally. We are working on schedules for both the States and New Zealand. If we can travel we will do what we have done since 1984! If we cannot travel we will look for other creative ways we can minister.
Writing will probably become more important. Book number three on revival needs to be written. Books on a number of subjects are percolating under the surface. We are praying about podcasts and video casts. We have a number of ideas, but we want to move from good ideas to God ideas.
We have spent several months trying to update our newsletter mailing list. Some receive this letter by the postal system. Some receive it by email. Some will receive it monthly and others will receive special editions. We hope to both reflect your interest and our current realities. This is one of those special editions.
In spite of the challenges of 2020 we have ended the year well. The planned schedule for 2021 is coming together. Finances are much stronger than projected. Some of you have felt led to step your giving up in huge ways this past year. New supporters have come onboard. Some church offerings have absolutely blown us away. These have offset the more limited preaching schedule.
Over twenty years ago the Lord spoke to us about “a wave that is going to carry you to the next wave and to the next wave and to the next wave” The word gave a suggested time frame that would indicate our assignment is not completed yet. We are trying to do what we need to do to be ready to step into this year. As a part of that we have been working on our personal wellness as well as our spiritual well-being.
Will you help us again this year?
We are looking for those who feel God wants them to become a part of our support team throughout this year. Are you one of those?
